Transparency
Virtual talent,
clearly disclosed.
Every persona in our roster is AI-generated. Transparency is foundational to this model's credibility.
What our personas are
Significant Talent personas are fictional characters created using AI image generation tools. They do not depict, represent, or impersonate real people. Each persona has a defined identity — name, niche, visual style — but they are not sentient, autonomous, or self-directed.
All content produced through our personas is created and reviewed by humans at Significant Machine. The AI generates imagery and assists with content creation; the editorial direction, brand voice, and quality control are ours.
Disclosure & FTC compliance
The FTC requires that AI-generated content be clearly and conspicuously disclosed, particularly in sponsored or promotional contexts. We take this seriously.
- All sponsored content includes clear language identifying the persona as AI-generated (e.g., "This is an AI-generated virtual persona" or equivalent)
- Disclosures appear in the content itself — not buried in bios, footnotes, or terms pages
- Paid partnerships follow standard FTC endorsement guidelines (#ad, #sponsored, or equivalent per platform)
- We work with brand partners to ensure disclosure language meets both FTC requirements and platform-specific policies
Platform policies
Major social platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube) have evolving policies around AI-generated content and synthetic media. We monitor these policies and adapt our disclosure practices as they change.
Where platforms offer AI-content labels or flags (such as Meta's "Made with AI" label), we use them. Where they don't yet exist, we include text-based disclosure in captions and descriptions.
Likeness & intellectual property
Our personas are not modeled on or derived from any specific real individual's likeness. They are original creations generated through AI tools trained on broad visual datasets.
That said, we recognize that AI image generation raises legitimate questions about training data, likeness rights, and consent. We stay current on legal developments in this space and are prepared to adapt our practices as standards evolve.
Brand partner responsibilities
When licensing our talent, brand partners receive clear guidelines on disclosure requirements. Our standard licensing agreements include:
- Required AI-generation disclosure language for all published content
- Usage scope, duration, and platform restrictions
- Restrictions on misleading or deceptive use of personas
- Mutual obligation to comply with applicable advertising and consumer protection laws
A living document
This space is new and moving fast. Regulations around synthetic media, AI-generated content, and virtual influencers are still forming. We don't claim to have all the answers — but we're committed to operating transparently while the rules catch up.
Questions about our practices? Reach out. We'd rather have the conversation than avoid it.
